Is Adobe Stock Something for my Business?

July 28, 2015 By Shane Russell

adobeWhen a name as huge as Adobe gets into a business like stock photography, it can feel like the world is changing and nothing will be the same.  But if you look closely at Adobe Stock and the price points for their different image options, how much has really changed?  Is Adobe really selling stock photography in a new or unique way, and is it a smart choice for your business?  Read on for our look at what’s new and what’s not from Adobe Stock, and how the service can and can’t help your business.

Adobe Stock’s Pricing Models

pricing

Just like most traditional stock photo vendors, Adobe Stock offers imagery on two different standard pricing models.  Adobe sells individual images for a $9.99 premium, which isn’t a terrible deal but isn’t the best one around for on demand imagery either.  If you need more images and will be using them regularly, you can sign up for a subscription service and have a ton of images delivered to you every month.  Adobe offers 10 images a month for $49.99, or 10 images for $29.99 with an Adobe Creative Cloud account.  Or, if you need a massive number of images, you can get 750 images for $199.99.  If Adobe’s pricing models look pretty similar to a lot of other vendors, that’s no coincidence: Adobe based their pricing points on industry standards, and didn’t shake the boat as far as pricing goes.

What Does Adobe Stock do Differently?

different

Adobe isn’t bringing much new to the table as far as pricing goes, but it does provide some new and innovative services for business owners hoping to get the most out of their stock photography.  With Adobe’s app integration, you can do a lot with your proprietary Adobe stock photography from inside of programs like Photoshop and Illustrator.  There are some innovative features in Adobe’s new offerings, but pricing isn’t something that Adobe is doing differently.

Is Adobe’s Stock Photography Right For Your Business?

business

If you are a small business owner considering the new services offered by Adobe, keep in mind that from a pricing perspective Adobe isn’t doing anything differently.  Subscription plans can be great for large business owners who need a lot of pictures, but for small and medium sized users that just want a good per image deal, vendors like Adobe don’t offer a good compromise.  That’s why we have developed solutions at StockPhotoSecrets like our $99 club and other plans.  Adobe might be right for your business, but only if you already use or intend to use a stand subscription style service.
